Summary

- Building to become a no-cost community health clinic.
- City cites Indiana's Senate Enrolled Act 1 for reduced funding.

The Muncie Crisis Center will conclude its operations on Friday, July 3. Its facility at 809 W. Eighth St. is slated for a transformation into a no-cost community health clinic. The Muncie Mission will manage this new clinic, with an agreement for them to own the property outright in 2027.
The city's prior contract with Meridian Health Services to run the addiction services center expired at the end of the previous year. In April, Mayor Dan Ridenour's administration announced the building's planned redevelopment. This decision was influenced by Indiana's Senate Enrolled Act 1, which impacts local government funding and operational costs.
Current recipients of crisis center services are urged to contact Meridian Health Services promptly to ensure their ongoing care and explore available resources. The city acquired the site in March 2023 for $125,000, with the former bar building on the property having been demolished in January 2024.
