MINI has introduced the Countryman C, a locally assembled petrol-powered SUV, with an introductory price of ₹47.50 lakh (ex-showroom) as of June 18, 2026. The brand is significantly increasing its focus on the Indian market, aiming to double its sales volumes this year from approximately 730 units sold last year. This expansion is supported by a strategic plan to double its dealership network, adding 10 new touchpoints across eight cities by the end of 2026.
The introduction of the Countryman C addresses the strong demand for SUVs in India and offers a more accessible price point compared to the existing electric model. The company notes that a significant portion of luxury vehicle demand, around 70-75%, remains petrol-powered, making this new offering crucial. The brand's electric vehicle adoption is also strong, with EVs accounting for about 30% of MINI sales.
MINI's parent, BMW Group India, is experiencing robust growth, with sales expected to surpass 20,000 units this year. The company currently has sufficient manufacturing capacity for up to 50,000 vehicles. Looking ahead, MINI plans to launch numerous models, with approximately 26 new models and updates scheduled for 2026, maintaining a pace of introducing one or two products almost monthly.
