A recent survey indicates that a substantial portion of Midwesterners are experiencing financial insecurity. The findings reveal that 52% of respondents in the Midwest do not have emergency savings sufficient to cover three months of living expenses. This mirrors the national average, where 53% of Americans reported a similar lack of rainy day funds.
The survey also highlighted efforts by residents to manage their budgets more tightly. A significant 67% of Midwesterners have reduced spending on non-essential items such as streaming services and entertainment over the past year. Nationally, 70% of individuals made similar adjustments to their spending habits.
Adding to the financial strain, 57% of Midwestern respondents expressed that their income is inadequate to support their desired lifestyle.
