An additional £250,000 has been awarded for the renovation of Mercer Hall, a leisure center located in Great Harwood, Lancashire. This substantial sum brings the total secured funding for the historic building to £915,000 over the past two years.
The recent funding injection comes from the UK government's Pride in Place Impact scheme. It will facilitate the third stage of the hall's comprehensive revamp, targeting significant upgrades to its two wings and the main reception area.
Further enhancements include repurposing the former sauna and steam room spaces. These areas, along with the reception, will be transformed into modern, versatile spaces for community use, preserving the historical significance of the Mercer Hall, which was built between 1913 and 1921.
