Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Matter Motor Works Private Limited has initiated a commercial lawsuit against Hero MotoCorp Limited. The core of the dispute revolves around the alleged infringement of Matter's 'AERA' trademark. Matter asserts that Hero MotoCorp has been using variations of this trademark, such as 'AERA-Tech' and 'AERA-Advanced Electronic Ride Assist', in connection with its popular Glamour motorcycle.
On January 9, 2026, Hero MotoCorp provided an assurance to the Delhi High Court that it would halt all usage of the 'AERA-Tech' branding. The company committed to not producing any further bikes with this branding after the specified date. Hero clarified that 'AERA-Tech' refers to their proprietary Advanced Electric Ride Assist feature, not a distinct model name, and was always used alongside existing brand marks.
Further reinforcing their commitment, Hero confirmed that all related activities would cease and that trademark applications, including for 'AERA Tech', would be withdrawn. During a February 5 hearing, Hero's legal representatives reiterated their commitment to transitioning to a new mark. The court acknowledged this undertaking, thereby disposing of the immediate injunction plea while holding Hero to its promise.
