Nexa's Comeback: Maruti Suzuki Plans Electric SUV & Facelifts
25 Oct
Summary
- Nexa sales share dropped in recent quarters but is set for a rebound.
- Upcoming launches include a seven-seat electric SUV and Fronx facelift.
- Updates to Grand Vitara and a new hybrid model are planned for 2027.
Maruti Suzuki's premium Nexa sales channel is charting a course for recovery following a quieter period. While Nexa's sales contribution within Maruti Suzuki's overall domestic portfolio has seen a decrease, with its share dropping from 30.68% in 2024 to 27.45% by January-September 2026, industry insiders anticipate a rebound. This decline was attributed to Nexa relying on three models – Baleno, Fronx, and Grand Vitara – which have started to appear dated. The discontinuation of the Ciaz sedan and Ignis hatchback also impacted Nexa's market share.
Looking ahead, Nexa's lineup is set for a significant refresh. Sources indicate that after the Fronx facelift, upcoming models will include a highly anticipated seven-seat electric SUV, codenamed YMC. Further enhancements are planned for 2027, with major updates expected for the Grand Vitara and the introduction of a brand-new electric or hybrid model positioned in the Fronx segment. The Baleno facelift, launched on September 5, 2026, has already shown strong initial sales, selling 25,392 units in its first month, indicating positive momentum for Nexa's premium offerings.
