In a move to drive Mandya's industrial development, Union minister HD Kumaraswamy has instructed district officials to acquire suitable government land in Nagamangala or Malavalli for setting up new industries. The minister's directive aims to create more employment opportunities and spur economic growth in the region.
Addressing the DISHA meeting, Kumaraswamy also called for banks to maintain a friendly relationship with the public, and spoke against bank staff exerting pressure on farmers to repay loans. Discussing the water situation, the minister noted that Mandya has received normal rainfall this year, leading to no shortage of drinking water or for agricultural purposes. He stated that Karnataka has already released the required quantum of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, and farmers have been supplied water for agriculture since July.
Expressing concern over the increasing accidents on the Hanakere-Gowdahalli stretch of the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway, Kumaraswamy said that approval for an underpass has been granted and directed prompt execution. The minister also provided a detailed overview of welfare schemes, highlighting that Mandya district secured the first rank in Karnataka under the Poshan Abhiyan scheme. He urged officials to ensure timely delivery of services for children and pregnant women in the district's 2,558 anganwadis.
