Mahindra has entered the three-row electric SUV segment with the launch of the XEV 9S in India, priced from Rs 19.95 lakh. This new EV is positioned as an enhanced counterpart to the XUV700, offering significant upgrades and advanced features for discerning buyers. Test drives are set to commence soon, with bookings opening in January 2026, followed by initial deliveries later that month.
The XEV 9S boasts three distinct battery pack choices: 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. Power outputs vary from 228 bhp to an impressive 282 bhp for the top-tier variant, all delivering 380 Nm of torque. Mahindra claims a rapid 0-100 kmph acceleration in just seven seconds, placing it in competitive performance territory for electric SUVs.
Its exterior showcases Mahindra's latest electric design language, featuring a closed grille and distinctive L-shaped DRLs. The interior impresses with a futuristic three-screen dashboard, an additional set of screens for rear passengers, and premium amenities. Safety is paramount, with up to seven airbags, Level 2+ ADAS, and an optional live vehicle surveillance system for enhanced security.
