Counting is underway today, December 21, 2025, for the 286 municipal councils and nagar panchayats across Maharashtra. This includes votes cast in the first phase on December 2, and subsequent polling held on December 20 for 23 municipal councils and 143 vacant member posts.
The first phase of elections saw a significant voter turnout of 67.63 percent for 263 local bodies. While polling was initially announced for 246 municipal councils and 42 municipal panchayats, adjustments were made, with voting eventually held in 222 municipal councils and 42 panchayats. Murgud municipal council in Kolhapur recorded the highest turnout at 88.43%.
