The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food licenses of multiple establishments following inspections that uncovered significant hygiene and safety violations. An IRCTC-linked supplier in Kurla, R.K. Associates & Hoteliers, had its license suspended after finding cockroaches in food preparation areas, uncovered food, and employees with inadequate medical fitness certificates.
Three food establishments at ISKCON, Juhu, also faced license suspensions on September 7. Deficiencies noted included inadequate water testing records, risks of cross-contamination, pest infestation, and improper storage conditions. Specifically, the food services restaurant at ISKCON, Juhu, and ISKCON Govindas Restaurant were cited for various lapses, including pest entry prevention and food handler hygiene.
Further inspections led to recommendations for license suspension for Bombay's -- The Food Fusion Cafe in Ghatkopar and Shree Madhuram in Borivali East. These cases involved uncovered food, improper storage, defective drainage, and operating beyond registered vendor status. Several other establishments in Mulund and Goregaon also had their licenses suspended.
