Madurai Roads Get Mega Makeover: 1,032 Repaired!

Madurai Corporation has successfully completed the relaying of 1,032 damaged roads, covering an impressive 149 kilometers. This extensive project has enhanced the city's road network.
Looking ahead, administrative approval has been secured for the 2025-2026 fiscal year to reconstruct 1,169 damaged roads, totaling 169.43 kilometers, with an allocated budget of Rs 120.29 crore. Work on the remaining roads is being expedited.
In addition to major reconstructions, the corporation is actively addressing immediate road surface issues. Repair works for potholes and damage have been initiated, with 746 out of 940 identified spots already completed. Further repairs are planned for busy traffic corridors.
Recognizing the importance of pedestrian safety and convenience, 14 major routes are undergoing footpath renovations, a project budgeted at Rs 64.88 lakh. These initiatives collectively aim to improve urban mobility within Madurai.
