The ride-hailing company's first state-level bellwether trial is scheduled for September 30. Beyond these legal challenges, the short-seller described Lyft as a "structurally second-rate" business, holding only a 24% market share compared to competitor Uber's 76%. Concerns were also raised about Lyft's autonomous vehicle strategy and its ability to compete with market leaders.
The per-share impact of these legal liabilities could reportedly range from $3.19 to $6.38. The report further noted uncertainty regarding insurance coverage for sexual assault claims. Lyft is slated to report its second-quarter 2026 earnings on August 6th.
