4 Dec
Summary
- Lumina Media acquired a significant stake in Benedict Cumberbatch's SunnyMarch.
- Adam Ackland no longer has significant control of SunnyMarch.
- SunnyMarch focuses on character-driven films with budgets of £9M-£20M.

Lumina Media, the new venture founded by Thomas Benski, has secured a significant stake in Benedict Cumberbatch's production company, SunnyMarch. Filings at U.K. Companies House indicate that Lumina Studios Group now holds between 25% and 50% of SunnyMarch Group Limited.
This investment marks a shift in ownership, as co-founder Adam Ackland has ceded his previous majority control. While Ackland remains a director, the move positions Lumina Media as a key partner in SunnyMarch's future endeavors. The production outfit previously sold a minority stake to Anton in 2021.
SunnyMarch, co-launched by Cumberbatch and Ackland in 2013, focuses on character-driven films with estimated budgets between £9 million and £20 million. Cumberbatch has described the company's USP as balancing quality with commercial appeal, reflecting films they admired growing up.
