Lucid Denies Bankruptcy, Take-Private Rumors
15 Jul
Summary
- Lucid Group refutes claims of bankruptcy and take-private deals.
- The EV maker states it has sufficient liquidity for operations.
- Restructuring efforts aim to improve execution and operations.

Lucid Group has officially dismissed reports of considering a take-private transaction or Chapter 11 bankruptcy as "completely false." The electric vehicle manufacturer stated in a regulatory filing that it has sufficient liquidity to support its operations well into the following year, aligning with its latest quarterly financial disclosures. The company also clarified that no special board committee had been formed to evaluate such options.
Management consulting firm AlixPartners is collaborating with Lucid on initiatives to boost execution and bolster operations. The company reiterated that this restructuring advisor has not recommended bankruptcy. These disclosures follow a broader restructuring effort initiated in June under new chief executive Silvio Napoli, which includes an approximately 18% reduction in the US workforce and the elimination of the chief operating officer position, aimed at achieving annualised cost savings of approximately $158 million.
In the first quarter of 2026, Lucid reported a revenue increase to $282.4 million, a 20% year-over-year rise, with vehicle production surging by 149%. However, the company also recorded a substantial net loss of $1.02 billion for the period, compared to $366.2 million in the same quarter of 2025. This wider loss from operations, which rose to $989.4 million from $691.9 million, was attributed to increased costs in revenue, research and development, and administrative expenses, alongside workforce reduction charges.
