A Louisiana man has received the largest unclaimed property check ever presented by the state treasurer. James Willet, 62, was awarded more than $320,000 in unclaimed funds during a presentation at the Logansport Chamber of Commerce.
An additional check for almost $80,000 was also issued for a trust benefiting Willet's son. State Treasurer John Fleming emphasized that Louisiana holds over $1.2 billion in unclaimed property, with one in six residents potentially having claims averaging $900.
