29 Mar
Summary
- A $533 million lottery winner is selling an $11 million property.
- His real estate company, RIMA Management, is reportedly losing staff.
- One of his hotels has ceased operations and is up for sale.

Richard Wahl, who won a $533 million lottery prize in 2018, is now selling an $11 million property, including a hotel in Maryland that has stopped accepting reservations and is up for sale. Reports indicate that his real estate company, RIMA Management & Hospitality, has experienced a significant exodus of employees, including its executive team. This downturn follows Wahl's initial plans to retire and support his wife's family in Mexico after his life-changing win.
This situation has led to the closure of the Days Inn by Wyndham Baltimore, which Wahl acquired in 2021 for $10.7 million. Further reports suggest that three other RIMA properties in different states have also ceased operations. These include La Playa Resort & Suites in Daytona Beach, which Wahl had purchased in 2019 for $13.6 million with plans for timeshare conversion, but renovations were halted, and the property was listed for sale and has been permanently closed since 2023.
