The center, set to be inaugurated on November 20, will be one of the company's largest global offices, according to CEO Waqas Samad.
The Chennai-based team will play a critical role in the company's daily operations, including the cleaning and delivery of over 1 billion maritime data points every day. This will ensure that Lloyd's List's global customers receive timely, accurate, and actionable intelligence. Samad noted that Chennai's proximity to customers in the Asia-Pacific region and its favorable time zones are additional benefits for the company.
The new center will create over 200 roles in data analysis, software development, and quality assurance. Samad said the expansion underscores both the growing demand for high-quality maritime data and the ever-increasing importance of Asia-Pacific trade routes. Lloyd's List Intelligence currently has a presence in several major hubs across the region, including Mumbai, Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Australia.
