LinkedIn is introducing a suite of new features designed to accommodate users' multifaceted professional lives, including side hustles and passion projects. The platform is updating profiles to allow individuals to highlight multiple roles, reflecting a significant increase in users listing diverse pursuits. This move acknowledges that work is increasingly varied, with a notable 70% rise in users adding 'founder' to their profiles in the past year.
For creators and entrepreneurs, LinkedIn is rolling out 'Advice Sessions,' a feature enabling paid one-on-one consultations directly through the platform. Initially available to business premium subscribers in the US, this service will not take a commission on earnings. Additionally, a new analytics dashboard will provide deeper insights into post performance, and an expanded revenue-sharing program for video content will offer creators a greater share of ad revenue.
The platform is also testing a 'network' feed, limiting content to updates from connections and followed accounts, aiming to foster more relevant interactions. A new 'business card' feature for mobile wallets is also in development to simplify real-world connections. These updates signal LinkedIn's adaptation to a changing work landscape, influenced in part by the rise of AI.
