Summary
- Lindian Resources partners with Carester for rare earth separation facility.
- A 10-year offtake agreement secured for heavy rare earth products.
- Feasibility study for Kazakhstan facility targeted for Q4 2026.
Lindian Resources Ltd is significantly bolstering its downstream rare earth processing capabilities through a new strategic alliance with French separation expert Carester SAS. This partnership is instrumental in advancing the development of an 8,000-tonne-per-annum rare earth oxide separation facility located in Kazakhstan. A binding long-term offtake agreement has been established, ensuring a market for the facility's output.
Under this agreement, Carester will purchase a substantial portion of the mixed heavy rare earth compound (SEGH) produced at the SARECO processing facility. This commitment spans an initial 10-year period, with options for two five-year extensions, solidifying Lindian's route to market for these valuable products. The company is also exploring options for mixed heavy rare earth carbonate (MHREC) production.
The planned facility in Stepnogorsk, Kazakhstan, is designed to produce high-purity magnet-quality neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) oxide, alongside SEGH carbonate. This strategic move positions Lindian to capture higher value in the rare earth supply chain, offering products that include critical elements like dysprosium and terbium. Engineering group Tetra Tech Coffey will lead the definitive feasibility study, with completion anticipated by the fourth quarter of 2026.
