Garage to Shops: Lincoln Co-op Eyes Old Site
7 Feb
Summary
- Old garage site eyed for conversion into three new shops.
- Lincolnshire Co-op is among potential tenants.
- Plans aim to boost local retail options in Sincil Bank.

Plans have been submitted to convert a vacant 1950s garage building in Lincoln into a trio of new convenience shops. The site, formerly South Park Garage, has been empty since The Other Bike Shop closed in 2021 and Top Car in 2025. Local businessman Andrew Long's company, Travel Sector Property Ltd, submitted the application to City of Lincoln Council.
Lincolnshire Co-operative Society has indicated interest in leasing the site, alongside other potential tenants, should planning permission be granted. The proposed shops are intended to serve the Sincil Bank area, addressing a current lack of retail facilities and reducing the need for residents to travel across busy roads. The application notes the building's potential to deteriorate without commercial use.
