The Lexus NX, a contender in the luxury SUV market, has received a varied reliability assessment. While the 2025 model ranked seventh with a score of 78 by Consumer Reports, this marks a decrease from previous high scores. However, Lexus as a whole continues to be recognized for dependability, holding the top position in J.D. Power's vehicle dependability survey for the third year running.
Despite fluctuations in specific model years, the NX generally performs well, often exceeding 70 in Consumer Reports' reliability ratings. Its appeal is further enhanced by its position as a luxury vehicle that is relatively affordable, with an average sale price near the new vehicle average and below its luxury compact SUV peers. Maintenance costs for the NX are also notably lower than the average luxury SUV.
However, the NX has not been without its issues, including several recalls for safety-related components and an electrical problem affecting some hybrid models. While recalls are addressed by dealers, potential buyers should verify repairs. Furthermore, the NX's resale value, while better than average for new cars overall, depreciates more than other Lexus models and the Lexus RX 350.
