Lancashire Park Transforms with Watersports & Lodges

Summary
- A new leisure lake for watersports is planned.
- Thirteen lodges will provide independent living for students.
- The site currently hosts motorsport and offers training for children.

Funding has been secured for a major redevelopment of Phoenix Park in Lancashire, transforming the site into a hub for water sports and accommodation.
Plans include the creation of a "leisure lake" suitable for activities such as water-skiing, windsurfing, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding. This new facility will be complemented by 13 lakeside lodges designed to offer transitional living accommodation for students aged 16 and over who are in the care system. These lodges aim to foster independence while ensuring ongoing support and supervision.
The project, approved by Preston City Council in August 2023, is centered around the existing Trax Off Road Motorsport site on the banks of the River Ribble. While the current motocross and go-karting facilities are open to the public, they are part of a broader strategy to provide training and education for children in care. Construction is contingent upon meeting certain conditions, including investigations into contaminated land.
This ambitious scheme represents a significant investment in both leisure facilities and supportive housing for vulnerable young people in the region.
