In the third quarter of the current financial year, Kotak Mahindra Bank experienced a notable acceleration in its loan book growth, surpassing the pace of deposit expansion.
Between October and December, net advances climbed 16% to Rs 4.8 lakh crore when compared to the same period last year. This signifies a robust demand for credit and the bank's capacity to lend. The sequential increase in advances was approximately 4%, indicating sustained momentum.
Concurrently, total deposits for Kotak Mahindra Bank saw a healthy increase of 14.6% year-on-year, reaching Rs 5.43 lakh crore. However, the growth in loans outpaced deposits, leading to an upward trend in the bank's credit-deposit ratio. This metric is crucial for assessing a bank's liquidity and lending efficiency. The Current Account Savings Account (CASA) deposits rose by nearly 12% annually, though they remained flat on a quarterly basis.
