Farmers in Kodagu are pressing officials for a comprehensive report detailing crop losses. During a joint meeting held in Ponnampet, agricultural and survey department representatives convened with members of the Kodagu Raitha Sangha to address the community's agricultural challenges.
The Sangha president accused officials of submitting flawed reports to the government, which incorrectly stated crop losses below 30%. He asserted these inaccurate assessments harm Kodagu's agricultural sector and urged swift action for adequate compensation.
Farmers highlighted significant losses in areca crops due to severe rot disease, calling for a precise survey and compensation. Tahsildar Praveen Kumar assured that appropriate measures would be taken for crop loss compensation and that departmental processes would be improved to eliminate middlemen.
