KKR's co-CEO Scott Nuttall has cautioned against a uniform negative outlook on alternative assets, noting the private equity giant's record second quarter. He stated that external perceptions of market anxiety are disconnected from KKR's strong operating fundamentals.
Nuttall described the industry as "K-shaped," with KKR thriving on the "happy part" of this trend, evidenced by a 37% increase in fee-related earnings to $1.21 billion. Management fees also rose approximately 25% year-over-year, contributing to total operating earnings of roughly $1.5 billion.
The firm secured $34 billion in new capital commitments during the quarter, with infrastructure strategies performing exceptionally well. KKR's evergreen K-series funds for individual investors attracted $3 billion, boosting the platform's assets under management to $42 billion.
Asset sales also accelerated, with KKR reporting record monetizations including the $648 million sale of financial software maker OneStream and a stake sale in Spanish telecoms company MasOrange. These exits generated significant realized performance income.
KKR identifies AI expansion as a primary growth driver, necessitating substantial investments in energy and infrastructure. To support this, KKR launched Helix Digital Infrastructure, backed by over $10 billion in commitments to finance AI infrastructure for hyperscalers.
