Kia Sorento SUV Debuts in India

Kia has introduced its flagship Sorento SUV to the Indian market, with pricing commencing at Rs 27.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This launch positions the Sorento as Kia's premier internal combustion engine SUV in India, entering the competitive landscape against rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq.

The Sorento distinguishes itself with substantial dimensions, measuring 4,815mm in length and featuring a 2,815mm wheelbase, claimed to be the longest and widest in its class. It features a distinct design with vertical headlamps, DRLs, and Kia's signature tiger-nose grille, available in eight paint schemes.

Inside, the SUV offers a premium, technology-focused cabin. Depending on the variant, it comes equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster, advanced navigation, over-the-air updates, a digital key, and a generative-AI assistant. Comfort features include ventilated first and second-row seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system, accommodating up to seven occupants in a three-row layout.

Safety is a priority, with seven airbags and a 26-feature safety package standard on lower trims, while higher variants receive up to ten airbags and Level 2+ ADAS with a 30-feature suite. The Sorento is also Kia India's first model to offer a strong-hybrid powertrain, combining a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for a total output of 238 hp and 265 Nm of torque, available with all-wheel drive.

Additionally, a diesel variant is available, powered by a 2.2-litre engine producing 193 hp and 442 Nm of torque. This powertrain can be paired with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive depending on the trim. Various drive and terrain modes allow for customizable driver experiences.
