Kia India has commenced production of the Sorento at its Anantapur facility, positioning it as the brand's flagship SUV. This model signifies Kia's entry into the Indian market with its first all-wheel-drive hybrid SUV. Pre-bookings are now open, with a token amount of Rs 25,000 required, ahead of the official launch on September 4, 2026.
The Sorento will be available with two powertrain choices: a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong hybrid and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, both paired with automatic transmissions. Select variants will feature all-wheel drive and terrain modes, with options for six- and seven-seat configurations.
Inside, the SUV boasts dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and Level 2 ADAS. Notably, it will be the first global model to feature Kia's new AI Assistant powered by Live Generative AI for enhanced voice interactions and vehicle control.
The Sorento is expected to be priced between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete with models like the Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner in the premium SUV segment.
