9 Apr
Summary
- Kia's 2030 electric vehicle sales target reduced by 20%.
- Overall vehicle sales goal also trimmed to 4.13 million units.
- Humanoid robots to be deployed in Kia's Georgia factory from 2029.

Kia Corp. has revised its long-term business strategy, notably reducing its 2030 electric vehicle sales projection by about 20% to 1 million units. This adjustment reflects current market conditions and the cessation of electric vehicle subsidies in the United States last year. The company also lowered its overall vehicle sales target for 2030, aiming for 4.13 million units instead of the previously planned 4.19 million.
In a separate development, Kia announced plans to implement advanced robotics in its manufacturing process. The company will deploy Atlas humanoid robots, developed by Boston Dynamics, at its factory located in Georgia. These robots are scheduled for deployment starting in 2029. This move aligns with similar initiatives by its affiliate, Hyundai Motor, which intends to utilize these robots at its new Savannah, Georgia plant from 2028.
