KG Mobility to Assemble 10,000 Vehicles Annually in New Algerian Plant

In a strategic move to expand its global presence, South Korean automaker KG Mobility (formerly SsangYong) has announced plans to set up a vehicle assembly plant in Algeria. According to industry reports, the new facility will be built in partnership with local distributor Emin Auto, which also distributes vehicles for Chinese automaker JAC Group.

The Algerian plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of 10,000 vehicles, including the Musso pickup truck and the Torres SUV. The factory is slated to begin assembly of completely-knocked-down (CKD) kits next year, supplying vehicles to the domestic Algerian market as well as for export to other markets in the region.

This latest development is part of KG Mobility's diversified global market strategy, which has seen the company establish a number of local and regional assembly operations overseas. The automaker has partnerships in Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and South America, in addition to its domestic operations in South Korea.

KG Mobility's global sales rose by 2% to 91,905 units in the first ten months of 2025, with overseas sales increasing by 18% to 57,436 units while domestic sales fell by over 16% to 34,469 units. The company's recent partnership with China's Chery Automobile Company is expected to further boost its access to vehicle platforms and new energy vehicle (NEV) technologies.
