In a strategic move to expand its global presence, South Korean automaker KG Mobility (formerly SsangYong) has announced plans to set up a vehicle assembly plant in Algeria. According to industry reports, the new facility will be built in partnership with local distributor Emin Auto, which also distributes vehicles for Chinese automaker JAC Group.
The Algerian plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of 10,000 vehicles, including the Musso pickup truck and the Torres SUV. The factory is slated to begin assembly of completely-knocked-down (CKD) kits next year, supplying vehicles to the domestic Algerian market as well as for export to other markets in the region.
