6 Sep
Summary
- Two-wheeler sales in Kerala increased by 19% year-on-year during Onam.
- Truck rentals saw a year-on-year rise across major national routes.
- Electric vehicle sales continued strong year-on-year growth.

Kerala experienced a notable upswing in consumer and freight activity throughout August, largely attributed to the Onam festive season. This surge was clearly reflected in the transportation sector's performance.
Two-wheeler sales in the state recorded an impressive 19 percent year-on-year growth, indicative of heightened consumer confidence. While four-wheeler sales saw a slight month-on-month dip, they maintained a positive year-on-year increase of 9.30 percent.
Nationwide, truck rentals demonstrated strength, remaining higher on key trunk routes compared to the previous year. Routes like Delhi-Kolkata-Delhi saw a 15 percent increase in rentals. The positive trend extends to electric vehicles, which continued to show strong year-on-year sales momentum.
Transporters are also actively engaging with authorities regarding proposed restrictions on BS-IV trucks entering the National Capital Region from November 1, 2026.
