13 Sep
Summary
- Kamarajar Port is initiating its IPO process, aiming to be India's sole listed state-backed port.
- The proposed IPO includes an offer for sale potentially valued at ₹1,200 crore.
- Kamarajar Port is unique as it's incorporated under the Companies Act, unlike other state ports.

Kamarajar Port Ltd. has commenced the process to select up to three investment banks to manage its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO). This strategic move is set to make Kamarajar Port the sole state-backed port listed on Indian stock exchanges.
The proposed IPO is anticipated to feature an offer for sale amounting to approximately ₹1,200 crore, with details regarding a fresh issue to be determined later. Investment banks are expected to present their proposals next week, following a pre-bid meeting.
Kamarajar Port, established in 1999 and formerly known as Ennore Port, is uniquely incorporated under the Companies Act. This distinguishes it from India's other 11 major state-owned ports, which operate under statutory authority.
In fiscal year 2026, the port reported revenues of ₹1,239 crore, a 9% increase from the previous year, with profits rising over 10% to ₹596 crore. The port also handled a record 49.08 million tonnes of cargo.
