JLR Sales Surge 61% Despite Global Woes
2 Apr
Summary
- JLR's fourth-quarter sales increased by 61.1%.
- Production recovered after a cyber attack caused disruptions last year.
- Range Rover, Sport, and Defender models boosted sales significantly.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) reported a significant 61.1% increase in sales for the fourth quarter, a notable recovery following disruptions caused by a cyber incident last year. This surge brought fourth-quarter sales to 95,300 units sold to dealers between January and March. However, this figure still represents a 14.5% decrease compared to the same period in the previous year.
Despite the strong quarterly performance, JLR's full-year sales declined by 23.2% to dealers, with retail sales dropping 17.8% year-on-year. This overall decrease was attributed to various global challenges, including U.S. tariffs and production stoppages. The sales of high-margin models like the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender were crucial, accounting for 77.1% of JLR's January-March sales, up from 66.3% a year prior.
JLR, Britain's largest carmaker, is a key component of its parent company, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, contributing nearly 80% of the Indian automaker's revenue. Retail sales, including its Chinese joint venture, saw a sequential rise of 16.2% to 92,700 units in the fourth quarter, though this was a 14.3% year-on-year decline.
