TikTok Trend Fuels Jet2's Record Passenger Surge

The popular TikTok trend this summer significantly contributed to Jet2 achieving record passenger numbers. The company's tagline, "Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday," amassed over 80 billion global views on social media, substantially increasing brand awareness. In the six months leading up to September 30, Jet2 transported 14.1 million passengers, marking a notable rise of 750,000.
Financially, the holiday firm reported a 1% increase in pre-tax profits to £800.3 million, alongside record revenues of £5.34 billion, a 5% year-on-year growth. Despite passing on some cost pressures which led to a 3% increase in average package holiday prices to £933, customer demand remained strong, with package holiday customers up 1% and flight-only passengers surging by 16%.
Jet2's Chief Executive Steve Heapy noted that customers continue to book holidays closer to departure dates for both summer and winter seasons. The company has expanded its winter program, increasing seat capacity by 7.7%. He emphasized that overseas holidays remain a cherished priority for many, often outweighing other discretionary spending even amidst economic uncertainty. Jet2 also recently announced plans to launch flights and holidays from Gatwick airport.
