Jet2 Expands to Gatwick, Creating Hundreds of New Jobs

In a significant move, Jet2 has announced that it will be offering flights from Gatwick Airport for the first time. The airline has secured slots for six aircraft at the West Sussex airport, following the "release of additional capacity" by Gatwick.
This expansion is set to bring hundreds of new jobs to the region, including positions for pilots, cabin crew, engineering, and ground operations. Jet2 will initially offer flights to 29 destinations, including popular vacation spots in mainland Spain, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Malta, Italy, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Cyprus.
Jet2's chief executive, Steve Heapy, described this as "an incredibly exciting moment" for the company. Meanwhile, Gatwick Airport's chief executive, Pierre-Hugues Schmit, expressed his delight at welcoming Jet2 and marking "an exciting new chapter" for the airport's passengers across the South East and beyond.
The airline's maiden departure from Gatwick Airport is scheduled to fly to Tenerife, Spain, on 26 March 2026. With this expansion, Gatwick becomes the 14th UK airport to host a Jet2 base, further solidifying the company's presence in the region.
