Jamshedpur's East Singhbhum administration has established a special committee to address potential traffic congestion during the upcoming Durga Puja festival. Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Ranjan announced the formation of this panel on Saturday, following an inspection of several puja pandals with SSP Ehtesham Waquarib. The officials recognized the necessity for enhanced parking facilities to manage the anticipated influx of visitors.
The committee is mandated to inspect approximately 12 key puja venues. It will collaborate with local residents, puja organizers, and representatives from government and private entities. The primary objective is to identify and secure suitable locations for temporary parking, potentially utilizing vacant private land, government premises, and police station grounds.
Members of the committee include the District Transport Officer, JNAC Deputy Municipal Commissioner, DSP (Traffic), and an official from Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services Ltd. They have been given a deadline to submit their findings and recommendations by Monday evening. Notable venues to be assessed include CH Area, Central West, Hind Club, Baridih Bazaar, Burmamines, Kashidih, Tuiladungri, Agrico, and Sidgora Cinema Maidan.
In parallel, authorities are planning an anti-encroachment drive on roads leading to pandals in areas like Sonari, Telco, Kadma, Birsanagar, and Sakchi. Efforts will also focus on preventing illegal parking along the NH-33 Pardih-Baliguma stretch. This comprehensive approach aims to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the festive period.
