Jaipur Discom Cracks Down on Power Theft

Jaipur discom JVVNL is escalating its revenue recovery and vigilance operations to address mounting dues and long-standing financial challenges. The discom has pinpointed 10 power divisions and 20 sub-divisions with the highest outstanding debts, aiming for complete recovery from over 1.11 lakh consumers who collectively owe more than Rs 193 crore. These efforts include consumer camps, counseling, and stricter measures like disconnection for non-payment.
Complementing recovery drives, JVVNL has significantly ramped up vigilance against electricity theft through initiatives like 'Operation Urja Prahar'. Joint teams with district police have conducted intensive checks, leading to the seizure of illegal transformers and power lines, and imposing substantial penalties for power theft. Recent operations in Jhalawar and Khairthal-Tijara districts resulted in significant seizures and fines.
