Iraq Gas Field Roars Back After Drone Strike

Iraq's crucial Khor Mor gas field has recommenced operations, restoring gas supply to regional power stations after a recent drone attack caused a temporary halt. The Kurdish Regional Government's Electricity Ministry confirmed that operations resumed early on November 30, ending a period of disruption that began with an attack on November 27.

This field is a significant energy source for the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, supplying essential gas to power generation plants. The recent assault, which struck a storage tank and halted production, led to widespread power outages. The attack on the storage tank, partially financed by US companies, underscores the vulnerabilities in the region's energy infrastructure.

Despite facing multiple attacks, including significant ones impacting oilfields previously, the resilience of operations is notable. The restart follows a period of intense focus on enhancing the Khor Mor facility's capacity, with a recent expansion project adding significant processing capability ahead of schedule, aiming to boost overall output.
