Intel's 18A Process Enters Risk Production

Intel has advanced its next-generation 18A manufacturing process into risk production, signaling a crucial step in meeting its technology development goals. This move is intended to bolster confidence among potential external clients by showcasing the capabilities of its advanced chipmaking technology. The 18A-P variant demonstrates notable improvements, delivering 9% higher performance at equivalent power levels or 18% lower power consumption under identical processing speeds, alongside enhanced thermal management and design adaptability.

The company experienced exceptionally high demand for its central processors in the first quarter, driven by AI service providers. This demand was so substantial that Intel sold chips it had previously accounted for as write-offs. For the second quarter, Intel projects revenue between $13.8 billion and $14.8 billion, surpassing market expectations.
