27 Mar
Summary
- Infiniti sales have dropped 65.6% from their peak in 2017.
- The new QX65 midsize SUV is priced below the luxury average.
- Infiniti plans one new vehicle release annually for five years.

Infiniti, Nissan's luxury division, is facing a significant sales downturn, with a drop of 65.6% from its record 2017 performance. This decline contrasts sharply with competitors like Lexus, whose sales have climbed considerably in recent years. Industry analysts attribute Infiniti's struggles partly to a prolonged "product lull" and challenges faced by its parent company, Nissan.
To combat this trend, Infiniti is launching the QX65, a midsize SUV with a starting price of $53,990, significantly lower than the luxury segment average. The vehicle, manufactured in Smyrna, Tennessee, is set to arrive at dealerships in early summer. This launch is part of a new strategy where Infiniti aims to release one new vehicle annually for the next five years.
The brand is heavily promoting the QX65, a move reminiscent of its stylish FX line from the early 2000s. Analysts suggest this new model could be a turning point, but acknowledge that a full recovery will require time and consistent product development.
