Global ride-hailing company inDrive has acquired Pakistan-based quick-commerce startup Krave Mart, signaling a major push into grocery delivery and commerce services within South Asia. This all-stock deal, agreed upon last year, has received the necessary approval from the Competition Commission of Pakistan.
Founded in 2021, Krave Mart currently serves Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. It specializes in delivering groceries within approximately 30 minutes via its network of dark stores. This acquisition is a key component of inDrive's strategy to diversify beyond ride-hailing and establish a robust presence in e-commerce.
inDrive first ventured into grocery deliveries in Kazakhstan in September 2025 and expanded this service to Pakistan in January 2026, initially through a partnership with Krave Mart. An earlier investment in Krave Mart was made in December 2025 via inDrive's venture and M&A arm, which aims to invest up to $100 million.
Andries Smit, Chief Growth Businesses Officer at inDrive, expressed pleasure with the regulatory approval and highlighted the ongoing collaboration to enhance grocery delivery services. He confirmed that both the Krave Mart and inDrive brands would continue to operate in Karachi as the company scales its offerings under the inDrive.Groceries brand, which recently launched in Lahore.
The Pakistani grocery delivery market is highly competitive, with Foodpanda, backed by Delivery Hero, being a dominant player. Industry sources note that quick-commerce ventures often require substantial investment and time to achieve profitability, posing challenges for new entrants. Despite this, inDrive, with over 400 million downloads and a presence in over 1,000 cities across 48 markets, is leveraging its extensive user base for this expansion.
