Spanish technology firm Indra has been awarded a major contract by Transport for London (TfL) to manage the city's public transport ticketing and control systems. The deal, potentially worth up to 975 million euros, is set to run until 2034, with options for extension to 2039. This significant agreement will encompass systems across the Underground, trams, buses, and ferries.
Indra will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of numerous components, including thousands of gates, validators, and ticket machines. Furthermore, the company will oversee retail sales terminals, portable inspection devices, and the critical central back-office and payment systems, with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity. The London transit network currently facilitates over 8.6 million journeys each day.
