29 May
Summary
- IndiGo reported a loss of ₹2,536.9 crore for the quarter ending March 2026.
- Challenging operating conditions and rupee depreciation impacted profitability.
- The airline's domestic market share was 63.3% as of March.

India's largest airline, IndiGo, has reported a substantial net loss of ₹2,536.9 crore for the fiscal quarter concluding in March 2026. This represents a significant downturn from the profit of ₹3,067.5 crore recorded in the same period last year.
The challenging operating environment and a sharp depreciation of the Indian rupee were cited as primary factors contributing to the financial deficit. These external pressures offset the airline's operational profits, leading to the reported loss. Despite these headwinds, IndiGo's total income for the quarter rose by over 3% year-on-year to ₹23,830.7 crore.
IndiGo's Managing Director, Rahul Bhatia, highlighted that fiscal year 2026 was particularly difficult due to operational challenges that impacted profitability. He noted that excluding foreign exchange impacts and exceptional items, the airline had achieved a profit of ₹75 billion. As of March 2026, IndiGo held a dominant 63.3% share of the domestic air travel market.
