- Disruptions caused by optimization, poor planning, and software issues.

InterGlobe Aviation's Board has pledged to address findings from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) regarding significant disruptions experienced by IndiGo in December. The DGCA has imposed penalties totaling ₹22.20 crore on the airline due to these operational issues. The Board acknowledged the DGCA's orders and committed to taking thoughtful and timely measures to assure stakeholders and customers.
The disruptions, which affected 2,507 cancelled and 1,852 delayed flights between December 3 and 5, 2025, prompted a probe by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. A DGCA committee identified excessive operational optimization, insufficient regulatory readiness, software system weaknesses, and management control gaps as primary causes.
Further findings revealed IndiGo's failure to maintain adequate operational buffers and implement revised Flight Duty Time Limitation norms, leading to the widespread cancellations and delays. This crisis also garnered attention in Parliament and resulted in images of stranded passengers and scattered luggage circulating on social media.
