Summary
- New venture brings international brands to India using an asset-light model.
- Targeting a gap between fast fashion and luxury with premium apparel.
- The company raised $1.6 million in pre-seed funding.

A new venture, Confluxe, founded by former H&M India executives Louis Coucke and Rajesh Narkar, launched in March 2026 with the goal of introducing international apparel brands to India. Employing an asset-light model, Confluxe manages sourcing, merchandising, marketing, technology, and retail expansion, allowing partner brands greater business oversight. The company secured $1.6 million in pre-seed funding in March 2026 from Wavemaker Partners and Kriscore Capital.
Confluxe aims to build a ₹500-1,000 crore business over the next three to five years by tapping into India's growing demand for premium fashion. The venture targets consumers willing to invest in quality, functionality, and design, positioning itself between the fast fashion and luxury segments. Its first brand, Brazilian premium menswear label Urban Performance, offers products priced between ₹3,999 and ₹20,000.
Future plans include launching a US-based premium denim brand in September 2026, with its initial collection manufactured locally in India. Confluxe intends to work with both established global brands and emerging labels that offer differentiated products. The company anticipates that India's top 120 million consumers will be its primary customer base, with younger aspirational shoppers driving demand in certain categories over time.
Confluxe is cautious about the role of quick-commerce in fashion, believing its long-term economic viability is uncertain. While premium apparel like Urban Performance might not suit quick commerce, categories such as denim could benefit from faster delivery, especially when fulfilled via retail store networks. The company plans to build brands online initially before expanding into shop-in-shop formats and exclusive stores, learning from past retail expansion challenges experienced by other brands.
