India's electronics manufacturing sector is experiencing a significant upswing with Wipro Electronics' new ₹500 crore printed circuit board (PCB) plant in Doddaballapura scheduled to become operational within nine months. This development was announced alongside Karnataka's commitment of ₹2,600 crore in fresh investments at the Bengaluru Tech Summit, highlighting a strong push towards domestic production.
The state's Minister for IT/BT, Priyank Kharge, announced a series of agreements worth ₹2,600 crore, fostering over 3,500 jobs across key sectors. Notably, Global HDI will invest ₹1,500 crore in a new HDI/Multi-layer PCB Plant, and Elleve Solutions plans a ₹250 crore investment for a PCB & Electronics Manufacturing Facility.
These investments aim to curb India's substantial reliance on imported PCBs, which currently satisfy 85% of the domestic market's needs. The global PCB market is projected for massive growth, and these initiatives position India to capture a larger share of this expanding industry.
