Summary
- A 10 GW integrated solar ingot and wafer facility is being built in Nagpur.
- The project involves an investment of ₹6,200 crore on 300 acres of land.
- Over 8,000 jobs are expected to be created by the new manufacturing plant.

Waaree Energies has commenced construction of what it claims is India's largest integrated solar ingot and wafer manufacturing facility. Located in Butibori, Nagpur, the plant will feature a 10 GW capacity for both solar ingots and wafers.
This significant development, backed by an investment of approximately ₹6,200 crore on 300 acres, is designed to strengthen India's solar photovoltaic value chain. The facility's primary goal is to enhance domestic production of critical upstream solar components.
Expected to create over 8,000 jobs, the project is a key step in bolstering India's clean energy transition and energy security. It aims to reduce the nation's dependence on imported solar materials and enhance supply chain stability, aligning with the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' vision. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, underscoring the project's national importance. Nagpur was chosen for its strategic location and industrial infrastructure.
The company currently operates global manufacturing facilities with a solar PV module capacity of around 22.3 GW and solar cell capacity up to 5.4 GW.
