Electric vehicle adoption is accelerating in India, transitioning from pilot phases to widespread deployment.
Tata Motors recently announced it secured over 3,400 orders for electric commercial vehicles. These orders span across freight, logistics, and passenger mobility segments, including approximately 2,000 small commercial vehicles and pickups, nearly 900 trucks, and about 500 buses.
The deployed vehicles will cater to various applications such as e-commerce, FMCG distribution, and intra-city mobility. This substantial order pipeline reflects increasing customer trust in the performance of electric commercial vehicles under actual operating conditions.
Tata Motors supports this transition with a comprehensive ecosystem. This includes a wide EV portfolio, charging infrastructure, financing options, fleet management services, and uptime assurance programs. The company's electric commercial vehicle lineup has expanded to include models like the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV, and Intra EV, alongside medium and heavy commercial vehicles such as the Ultra EV range and Prima EV tractor and tipper.
Currently, Tata Motors operates over 3,800 electric buses nationwide, collectively accumulating more than 55 crore kilometers. Furthermore, more than 17,000 electric small commercial vehicles from the company are in operation on Indian roads. To facilitate broader EV adoption, Tata Motors collaborates with over 14 charge point operators and financial institutions, offering EV-focused financing and connected fleet management services.
