According to the latest announcement, the Indian stock market will be closed for trading for a total of 11 days in October 2025. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain shut for three designated holidays during the month, as well as on all Saturdays and Sundays.
The three trading holidays in October 2025 are October 2 for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra, October 21 for Diwali Laxmi Pujan, and October 22 for Diwali Balipratipada. In addition to these official holidays, the stock exchanges will also be closed on the four Saturdays and four Sundays of the month.
While October 21 is a stock market holiday, the NSE and BSE have announced that Muhurat Trading will be conducted on that day, with the timings to be notified through a circular. The next official trading holiday after October will be on November 5 for Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev.
The extended market closure in October is expected to impact investors and traders, who will have to plan their activities accordingly. The prolonged shutdown is also likely to affect the overall trading volume and market sentiment during the month.
