Summary
- Indian rupee reached a five-week high on Monday.
- Benchmark bond yields fell to their lowest since mid-April.
- Oil prices dropped significantly, easing pressure on India.

The Indian rupee experienced a significant rally, reaching a five-week high on Monday. This surge coincided with a notable drop in benchmark bond yields, which retreated to their lowest levels since mid-April. The positive market movement was largely attributed to the announcement of an initial peace deal in West Asia.
The easing of geopolitical tensions in West Asia led to a sharp decline in oil prices, which slumped by 5%. As India imports a substantial portion of its oil, this price drop eased considerable pressure on the nation's financial assets.
The rupee, which traded as high as 94.45 against the dollar intraday, closed 40 paise higher at 94.71. Analysts predict further appreciation, with expectations of the rupee trading between 92.75 and 94.20 by December 2026, and potentially reaching 93/93.50 by September. Yields on the benchmark 10-year bond, after hovering near two-month lows, ended marginally higher at 6.87%, but remain below the 7% mark.
